AN INTRODUCTION TO THE INTRODUCTION

Before we start with the introduction to my D&D world I want to explain some more broader things. Especally how I handle the premade material made by WoC in my D&D world and what that means for my players. So if you are a player and already bored at this point, please read at least this section.

To be exactly, I work with two D&D worlds. The first is my own World, here all the worldbuilding is done by me and I can give my imagination as much freedom I like. Here you can use all the material from the Forgotten Realms, Sandy Petersen's Cuthulhu Mythos 5e and some selected material from Sandy Petersen's Planet Apocolypse 5e. More information about my D&D world will follow in the next sections on this side. But because I'm not a being with infinite time and energy and I still like to use the premade material by WoC, especally Planescape and Spelljammer, I also use the original settings made by Woc on my table. To be more specific, my games use the great wheel cosmology with the forgotten realms setting set in the prime material plane and the spelljammer setting in the astral sea. To translate this from geekspeech to normal, you as a player can use material from the Forgotten Realms, Spelljammer, Planescape and Ravenloft settings. But you can't use the material from the Eberron, Greyhawk, Blackmoore or Dark Suns settings, except of course we play in one of these settings. The reason for this is that I think these settings are best used as standalone settings seperated from the Rest, because they all handle gods, magic and powerlevels differently.

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION

My Games are mostly set in a solar system and on its planets. These planets are fantasy versions of our solar system and each one has its own unique environment and gameplay. The planet where most games are set on is Terra, a fantasy version of our Earth. Terra is conceived as a classic fantasy world with small science fiction elements and a mythos that dates back to ancient times, eons before the first humans walked on Terra's surface. Other planets, like Mars, are home to a powerful wizard who has chosen a life of solitude and isolation in a mighty castle made of blue crystal. Uranus is covered by a sickening, fertile forest that is constantly growing and decaying as if in a time-lapse. Inhabited by predators that kill a prey in a second, only to fall prey to an even more dangerous predator seconds later. Venus is home to strange, formless, demon-like creatures that are always looking for opportunities to draw mortals into their world and make them suffer an unknown and horrible faith. But in what is nothing less than the cruel truth about your existence in this world, these are just the planets in one, in cosmic scale, tiny solar system and there are countless other fantastic plantes, regions and dimensions that are waiting... and countless maddening and unspeakable horrors from the great beyond.

The planets in this solar system are connected by portals, so called stargates, which can only be activated if the planets adopt a correct constelation and thus a timeframe opens in which a stargate can be activated and a journey to another stargate on an other planet is possible. The waiting time for the occurrence of such a constellation varies considerably, some planets like Neptune can be reached every few weeks, while Mars can only be traveled to every year and still others like Venus can only be reached every 1500 years. But be aware, this method functions both ways, a traveler can use stargates on other planes to travel to Terra and who knows what lurks and crawls on distant planets, eager to find new prey? Who created these cosmic gates is also a great mystery, some legends even say the stargates have existed since the birth of our solar system, surpassing every human, elven and dwarven kingdom by eons.

The stargates on Terra are being maintained by the so called Starmages, powerfull spellcasters who know the ways of the stars and planets. Only they have the astronomical and cosmological konwledge to operate these ancient artefacts when the time is right.

I designed my world to be a mixture of the weird science-fantasy of Clark Ashton Smith, the cosmic horror of H.P. Lovecraft and the sword and sorcery feel of Robert E. Howards (these guys just can't have one surname). So if you want to capture more of the feeling I try to deliver to my players, I highly recommend reading the works of these authors. Especially Clark Ashtons Smiths Mars cycle and his other stories set on Venus or Xiccarph, where great inspiration scources to me.

THE SEQUEL TO THE INTRODUCTION: INTWODUCTION

The fact you are still reading suggests me you are still interessted in learning more. This part will guide you a bit through the "D&D 5e" section of this webside and gives you advice on how to proceed further. The "My D&D Universe" subsection you are reading now is intended as starting guide and introduction for first-time visitors. For the players that are already familiar with my world and want to know more specific information the "The Forbidden Library" subsection is the way to go. Here you can read up things like information about places, history or gods in my D&D world. One time in the future this section will be a huge wiki about all my ideas and interessting things I designed, but its also the most time-consuming section, because worldbuilding is an time-consuming task and to document it is even more elaborate.

Last but not least comes the "House Rules" Subsection. As the name suggests, are here the various rules deffined that apply on my table. These rules don't need to be handled like holy rules made up by the almighty and divine DM, there will allways be situations where some adjustments are needed, but it takes some work from me as a DM to have the basic house rules written out on my webside, so my players can look them up. So, now go on and explore the rest of the site and have fun!
